Naked, Dirty, Happy

I caught my peas undressing.

peas

Down to her skivvies.

peas

Shirt and pants coming off at the same time.

Lifting her skirt. I nearly blushed. These peas have no shame, shedding their clothes right in the middle of the garden, in broad daylight. Of course, I don't blame them. I've often thought how much time I'd save on laundry if I gardened in the nude.

These carrots know what I'm talking about.

carrots

No clothes, no laundry, no worries. Sure their skin gets a little dirty,

carrots

but a quick rinse in the sink and they're ready to go...

carrots

into my belly.

Our garden may be small, it's bounty measured in handfuls, but the happiness I harvest out there is far beyond measure.

May your weekend be full of naked, dirty, happy moments.

  1. I love this! Laugh out loud, and beautiful, to boot. I just bought some amazing radishes at the farm market-purple and rosy and red, round and long, all mixed in bunches. I hope they taste as good as they look! Enjoy your weekend, Molly.

  11. Well yes... but it's okay for a pea to be rather round... as for me, I will keep my roundness under wraps :-) No naked gardening here!

Now as for those boys of my mine... one can never tell when they will drop their drawers!

    Happy weekend to you!

  14. We've already had a naked, dirty, happy weekend in the garden. But no bounty yet. We'll plant the first lettuces and tomatoes next week.

  15. whoa - we have nothing yet - well - our grass is growing - but no bounty - that would require sunshine and there has not been a heck of a whole lot of that here on the west coast.

  18. What cheeky peas - doing that strip tease like that. Were the radishes blushing?

My mum used to always garden naked; though we had the 'luxury' of living in the rainforest, and no fence for the neighbours to look over.
Its a bit like swimming naked in the ocean - beautiful, perfect and something that everyone should do at least once (if not many more times) in their lifetime.

  19. We got a kick out of that little fat round one. My son planted his own little patch of carrots in the garden. He's hoping to get one like that in his bunch. He love the pictures!!

  22. Love the undressing peas and the short chubby carrot.

We went a little crazy and added a melon patch this year. It's our first year growing (and giving up so much space) to the big round fruits we love so much. At least they like the heat!

Also we tried pea shoots per your recommendation. Yum. They never made it to the table - Chris and I ate them at the counter before the rest of dinner was done. Thanks for the tip. Oh so good.

  31. I'll never look at peas the same way, LOL. Nothing beats fresh garden carrots. Oh and since you are seeing growth in your garden could you please send the warmth and sunshine my way? I still haven't had a chance to plant anything, the Canadian Prairies are being brutal this year.
