A Day Late
Oops! Yesterday slipped out from underneath me and I forgot to post the winners of the pincushions.
infusionfibers said...Thank you for this tutorial. I love this idea! You are so clever, and I always appreciate how you take these genius little ideas to completion (and then share them here with all of us!).

Thank you all for entering! I hope some of you made pincushions for yourself. Mine came in very handy the other day while sewing in the car during Avery's gymnastics class. I generally avoid pinning when I can by sewing straight lines, but Avery asked for a rather curvaceous item: slippers. We used the pattern for Guest Slippers from Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. Avery picked out the fabrics, cut out the pieces, sewed the first seam, then handed the project over to me. Definitely not a beginner's project, but very, very cute and worth all the hand sewing. I couldn't have made the slippers without my ring pincushion. (Well, I probably could have, but there would be pins all over the seat and floorboard of my car!)
Our next pair of slippers will be the Mary Jane Slippers from The Purl Bee. I hope I can talk Avery into picking up some knitting needles again. I think a trip to the yarn store is in our near future. Speaking of yarn, I'll be back soon with the pattern for little crocheted hearts. Get those tiny crochet hooks ready!

ReplyDeleteI love knitting in my van. sewing, wow, that is impressive : )
ReplyDeleteLove the new header, Molly!
ReplyDeleteCan I just say that I love Avery's taste in fabrics? Normally not an orange gal, but the pattern is so lovely and that blue a great accent. She'll have the cutest feet in the house!
ReplyDelete(Saying that without surveying the slipper population in your family ...)
Gorgeous! You are so talented.

ReplyDeleteI've been eying those slippers in weekend sewing for sometime now!
