Me and My Floppy Hat

After my last two posts, you might think I've been idling around in my lounge pants for the past week rather than blogging. Truth be told, I don't know where the last week has gone. Spring has sprung and has been keeping us quite busy. I've traded in my lounge pants for my floppy hat.

my floppy hat

Me and my floppy hat have mulched the orchard, chased chickens around the yard, cheered for my son's t-ball team, and planted tomatoes, peppers, garlic, onions and herbs.

The cracks in my hands are stained with dirt and the soles of my shoes caked with chicken poop, and I couldn't be happier. The forecast calls for more of the same.

Me and my floppy hat will be going to the farmer's market tomorrow morning, so I'll be back next week with two weeks worth of local goodness. May you all enjoy Spring this weekend - I think she's very happy to be here.

  8. "Floppy hats" are the best! I have a straw one that goes with me everywhere also :)

How fun that you have been able to plant already, here in the North, I can not get any vegetables in until May 31. :(

    Thanks for sharing,

  13. I thought Slumdog Millionaire was quite good. The soundtrack really stood out - in a good way. I had heard so many vague comments about it being an artificially rosy portrait of life in the slums. Having seen it I would have to disagree. There was a lot of awful realism that I just wasn't expecting after the things I'd heard. The children were wonderful, and I was fixated on the way the game show host said "millionaire". BTW, that must have been a whole heck of a lot of dishes to be able to watch a whole film while doing the clean up!

  17. It sounds like heaven! I can't wait to get my hands in the dirt this year. We're having one last cold spell but after Good Friday I will be planting along with you. And I think maybe I should get a floppy hat too.
