When my favorite, though threadbare, sheets started to rip, I had no choice but to patch them. And what better way to patch a sheet than with an owl applique.
Yes, yes, owls are everywhere. Very trendy, very popular, but I don't give a hoot. I think they're cute.
This was my first attempt using my sewing machine to zigzag stitch around an applique (I also used Wonder Under). It will take some practice to perfect the technique, but I think the patch is pretty secure.
This little guy has kept me company the last few days while I've been sick in bed.
Now if you don't mind, I think I'm going to go back and join him. I feel a nap coming on. Maybe more of a rest - I picked up New Moon from the library yesterday. I've got some reading to do.
molly.. i love it! so clever!
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that! I would have never thought to patch sheets. LOVE it!

ReplyDeleteooooh the cuteness. Owls can never be overdone in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMan, I asked the manicurist to paint an owl on my toenail the other day. she looked at me like I had grown two heads.
ReplyDeletethere's a barn owl up these parts that likes to say hello to me when I get home from work at 2 a.m.- he's a noisy little sucker. I hope your owl doesn't keep you up at night.
What a hoot! Wish I had thought to mend a pair of sheets like that when I was in 7th or 8th grade. Vikki spent the night, went to pull the top sheet up and it completely ripped in half! It was pretty funny. Love ya and hope you're feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI too would have never thought of patching a sheet. Great idea! And that owl is so cute.

ReplyDeletethat is the most clever (and cute) thing i've seen in a long time.
