Homeschooling and Socks

A few years ago, when my first born was an only child and still in diapers, I met an amazing family at a neighbor's BBQ. They had six children, they homeschooled, and the mom knit socks. I was in bewildered awe. I still don't know how she does it, but now I know why. Knitting socks is addictive. I started my first pair last November, and even though I didn't finish until March, homemade socks have become one of my many passions. And homeschooling is the best decision I have ever made regarding my children's education. I started homeschooling my children in January and I hope to continue as long as possible. Six children? No, I still don't know why, but I do know how. Two children is good for me. Homemade socks for four feet is enough to keep me busy considering my turn around time. The English poet Matthew Arnold wrote, "The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next". It's one of my favorite Good Earth tea bag quotes. It was the freethinking of a homeschooling, knitting mother of six that gave me common sense, and I am forever grateful.
