The Unintended Consequences of Colour Week

Imagine my joy this morning when I saw my gold on Poppytalk. Aidan took the picture, he gets the credit. Thank you Aidan for getting me on Poppytalk! I should probably thank my hairdresser too. She added the gold to my locks.

It's Friday. Do you know why the blonde wrote TGIF on her shoes? "Toes go in first". Avery downloaded an app full of blond jokes. So now I'm full of them too. And I thought I'd heard them all in my youth, when I was a "real" blonde.

We've been equal parts productive and lazy this week, but I'll just share the productive part. Aidan sorted all of his Legos by color. I've been wanting to see this happen for a while, but I think it was Colour Week that motivated me to buy the containers.

While he sorted, I spent a little bit of time looking through Poppytalk DIY archives and stumbled on a cute project. Miniature handmade books. Avery and I had fun making some this afternoon.

I've got a new favorite word.

As a family, I think we've arrived at a new level of it. I feel that it might be fleeting. I want to capture as much of it as I can and hold it close. Only an intimate relationship with one's daughter allows for such comments as, "But mom, you can see your veiny hands in that picture!"

Maybe it's the upcoming holiday making me so sentimental. I'm not a big fan of holidays, but for some reason, I feel compelled to fill my house with symbols of love.

I call this one "Gaga for George".

Maybe it's not Valentine's Day making me all lovey-dovey. It could be a side effect from watching Pretty in Pink a few times this week.

It's Friday. TGIF. I should go start dinner. How does quiche and salad sound? Don't forget, toes go in first. Enjoy your weekend, my friends.

P.S. I installed Intense Debate on my blog. We'll see how it works.

  1. I always love your photos! They are so inspiring! The comment your daughter made about your veiny hands....I just love that! I guess I can relate because I no longer want my hands in close up photos!! and I'm only 40!! What's up with that?
