If You Liked Friday's Post...

You are going to love this picture.

'

My living room, Saturday afternoon. My "messy sweet life" as Kristin so aptly described it.

I've probably told you before that we live in an incredible neighborhood - the kind of neighborhood where everyone knows each other, wave hello and goodbye, stop in the middle of the street to chat, exchange gardening tips over white picket fences, share extra produce, watch each other's children. The type of neighborhood that gave over one hundred cans and boxes of foods to Aidan and his cousin Noah over the weekend for the Kids Can! Food Drive. I really do love this neighborhood.

What I know now is that I also dwell in a fantastic virtual neighborhood. I was a little nervous about disclosing my Big Gulp drinking, hat and sunglass wearing, hiding from the world self, only to be surprised by an out pour of compassion and empathy from my fellow bloggers. You, my neighbors in the blogosphere, saw my mess and said, "Hey! That mess looks familiar, it looks a lot like my mess."

best face forward

Sure, we all want to put our best face forward. But if we only share pictures taken from the best angle, we miss the big picture. We don't get "the rest of the story" - and you know, the rest of the story is often my favorite part.

So thank you. Thank you for letting me know that I'm not alone, that you too carry around an empty Big Gulp cup and a large brimmed hat in your tote bag. Today I'm going to tidy up my mess and make room for some of the pretty things I've been working on. Happy Monday friends!

  2. Well it appears that I'm a little late to say it, but hang in there, friend. And yes, everyone of us has had those moments, and sometimes they go on for days.

You are a good mama, a creative woman, a kind soul and a truly remarkable spirit... the people who love you most and the people who most love you will cary that with them.

  4. hehe Looks like my living room, well the house actually! Four girls, a puppy, cat and boyfriend. I worry less about the mess and more about spending time with the mess makers. I can clean up once they are gone. =/
Enjoy your day - no worries! =)

  11. I have to say, it always relieves me to see others who have sweet messes in their homes too. And, by the way, I love the Prarie Home reference (I am assuming that is what it is...), I grew up with Garrison Keilor's voice on Sunday afternoons.
