And The Winners Are...

Before I announce the winners of the acorn necklaces, I'd like to show you what I recently won from a blog contest.

one to grow on

This little guy, who reminds me so much of my little guy, came from Caroline of Burrow House (in fact, she has another contest going on right now, so hurry over and share a ghost story).

It is a little birthday candle holder. I was inspired to make a holder for the candle holder, so I pulled out my stash of felted wool sweater scraps and made a little cupcake, Betz White style. I then put thirty matches in the cupcake, and beginning a month before Aidan's birthday we will light one match a day and answer the age old question,

one to grow on

I just love this cupcake, and I absolutely adore the candle holder. It will surely become an heirloom. Thank you Caroline!

Now for the winners:

Juliua of Live More and Mary of One Step At A Time. Congratulations ladies!

Has anyone made their own acorn necklace yet? I'd love to know how they turned out.

I'm feeling a little better today - the fever finally broke. Twelve hours of Big Love and 500 pages of vampire love helped, as did all your well wishes over the weekend. Your virtual soup and good vibes made their way and did their magic. Thank you friends!

  4. Sorry to hear you all were ill, but how did you like the Twilight book? I'm waiting to get my hands on the fourth book, I'm too cheap to buy it though!

  6. I am so excited to win the acorn necklace! Do I need to email my address?

We enjoyed Big Love as well, and in the spirit of vampires, the new HBO series True Blood is pretty good too.

  7. I love your cupcake idea...what a wonderful way to celebrate a child's birthday month and answer the daily question of "how many more...?" all in one fell swoop! I'm filing this one away!

  10. CUPCAKE love! I just got an amazing recipe from a friend for a carrot cake with chocolate in it - sounds weird but tastes divine - maybe I will bake it into cupcakes. Not that they will be nearly that cute, what a lucky little man.

  11. Molly,

I'm one of the editors over at Blissfully Domestic and I wanted to see if you'd mind being featured on the Creative Bliss channel. I'd post your tutorial and link everything back to you. Let me know. Drop me an e-mail at sylviawrites(at)gmail(dot)com. Thanks!

I'll definitely be making these this weekend!

  12. Oh, so brilliant!! And do we live parallel lives, or what? My Aidan has been asking the same question about his upcoming birthday, and I hope you don't mind me stealing your brilliant idea outright.

BTW, do you ever regret, like I do, telling your son that Aidan means "fire" in Gaelic? Mine REALLY "warmed" to the idea, and I just hope that I haven't given birth to a future pyromaniac.

I bought the latest Twilight book for my daughter (she thinks, anyway) but have been putting off reading it until I can consume it in one go. I hope it got you through your illness. I can't think of a better cure than reading!
