Weekending

from our own tree

Picked cherries from our very own cherry trees.

Bought apricots, cherries, peaches, plums, pluots and strawberries from the farmer's market.

Broke in our season passes to the local water park.

Walked around in last year's swimsuit and this year's new and not so improved body.

Decided appearance is a state of mind.

Sucked in my tummy, threw my shoulders back and held my head high.

Made honey lavender ice cream.

Ate Avery's scoop.

Won't make that flavor again.

Planted more squash and beans.

Served breakfast on the back patio.

    Sounds just about perfect.

    Your cherry photo is beautiful.

What went wrong with the ice cream? It sounds like a good flavor.

  5. i can't say exactly what went wrong with the ice cream. for one, my daughter doesn't like honey. my husband said, "it's got good texture." i think we'll try vanilla bean next. then rose.

  7. I made a honey lavender avocado lime sorbet recently and it was lovely. I went for essential oil to keep the texture smooth and the avocado kept the sorbet nice and creamy. Coincidentally, I blogged the recipe in the same post as my make. do. towels inspired by you! http://chazandginger.blogspot.com/2010/05/make-do-in-may.html

  9. Sounds wonderful indeed.

How brilliant to have a cheery tree. Perhaps a cherry ice cream is in order?

Although it is supposedly Winter here in Australia, our poor confused apricot tree has produced a few flowers. I hope it doesn't forget when to fruit. :)

  10. breakfast on the back patio is so symbolic. As is buying all that fruit at the market. It's like striking gold.

  12. I cannot believe you are eating soft fruits already.

We finally had a day of sunshine on Saturday. It was most lovely.

  13. Ahhhhh, the sights and smells of fresh fruit. I wish this rain would let up so we'd see some summer. Hard to believe looking at the calendar and outside that it's actually June. :-(

  16. honey lavender, what an adverturous flavor. i have yet to eat anything "lavender", but i am getting up the courage. i really have no idea what it might taste like. i have an idea that it may taste just like it smells. what do you think? also, i am very jealous that you have a cherry tree as cherries are my absolute favorite fruit ever!
