Toot, Toot

I have two horns to toot today - after all, if you don't toot your own horn, who will?

First horn to toot is for Avery, who borrowed my camera yesterday and took some great shots. If only I had a shot of her lying in the grass, looking up and clicking away.

Here's my favorite and hers. I can't wait for her to borrow my camera again.

Second horn to toot is my own for the very small contribution I made to a video that posted to the Today show's website yesterday. The credit really goes to Kelly Corrigan for writing a heart wrenchingly honest letter to all mothers, Patricia Zaballos for recommending my work to Kelly and for being such an inspiring and amazing mom herself, and H. Zaballos, Patricia's talented and visionary son, who edited the video. H. punctuated Kelly's words with just the right images and just the right rhythm. I love it all the more each time I watch it (and believe me, I've watched it a few times).

Isn't it fun to see your name in a place where you didn't write it yourself? Toot, toot.

  10. sniff sniff. (dabbing the corner of my eyes)
Crying for three reasons: 1. because that video said things I have always felt but never put into consciousness or words
    2. because I am so proud for your contribution to that
    3. because Avery has your natural savvy behind the lens.

    ;)

  23. I got to "letting go". Of course, and then there were tears. Tears because being a mother is so deeply etched in my heart, and right now I only struggle with the simple baby steps and growing up requires us moms to grow in such a way and bend and contort (and now my keyboard is getting wet) in ways I never ever came close to imagining. Letting go...it's the first step. Thanks for sharing this Molly!
