What's Up Pumpkin Butt?

what's up pumpkin butt?

It's 5PM Friday evening. My kids have been gone all day at Grandma's making cookies. They just called to say they're staying for dinner. I'm hungry. I went into the kitchen to find a recipe for French Lentil Stew, but instead I found my recipe for Pumpkin Oat Pancakes, written on an index card by my daughter. I'm compelled to share.

Pumpkin Oat Pancakes

1 1/2 cups oat flour (I just grind rolled oats in my Cuisinart to make oat flour)
1 tablespoon flax seed (because it's healthy)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 eggs
milk to desired batter consistency

Mix ingredients. Cook on a hot, buttered griddle. Enjoy.

On a different note, I need some feedback. It's been quiet on this here blog all week because I've been quite busy making. Making lots of stuff. Acorn necklaces, dish drying mats, pincushions, and a few other projects I have yet to unveil. I'm thinking about selling a few of my handmade goods, but I'm having a case of cold feet. What do you think?

I'm going to pour a glass of red and think on it, and go look for that French Lentil Stew recipe again.

  1. make. pour. think. do.
    there is no downside.
and the upside is good for you and us.
    get goin' lady.
and don't forget to put some photos in that new shop of yours.
    i mean it.

  2. Definitely do it! What do you have to lose?

  3. Nothing ventured, nothing gaines as they say. Will you create an Etsy shop, or go the Christmas Crafts tables at Churches and Schools?

It's a funny economy, but don't let that stop you. There are people out there with money, but no time to create the lovely things you can. Just be sure you're happy with the exchange.

  4. Molly! *Of course* you should!
I can't wait to see your creations!
I am looking into opening up a shop soon too : )

  5. well, i have one of your acorn necklaces that i and everyone else adores!!!!! i say, yes, please share some more with us!

  6. Dear Lil' Pumpkin Butt,
Have a glass of red for me, and you will hear me saying:
please. If it pleases you, then have a little shop of your charming wares. You have a style all your own and oh-so-delicious.
Big (and getting bigger) Pumpkin Butt

  7. Another vote for a shop. :)

  8. do it do it do it...

I've found that selling my items is freakishly rewarding!

  9. Yes, please share what you make.

  10. Hells yes. Do it! I would buy some things and now is the perfect time...Christmas is almost on our door step.

  11. Warm up your feet and dive right in! It's very rewarding to create and then have someone actually want to BUY what you've made! Just be sure to keep some time for yourself. (and I'm off to try the pumpkin oat pancakes!)

  12. Yes! Do it, Do it, do it!!! I bought one of your lovely acorn necklaces last year and my daughter won't ever let me wear it. She LOVES it! Your stuff and ideas are beyond awesome.
Just don't stop blogging because then we'll all start whining!

  13. that's the funniest title i've read in weeks! yes. open a shop. you are a talent. *

  14. i get that cold feet thing too. i am thinking of doing an etsy store....you should definitely do it!!! i want to buy an acorn necklace!!!! :)

lentil soup with split peas sound great!!

  15. You are an amazing artist. I stumbled upon your blog 2 weeks ago and I am hooked. Definitely do it!

  16. I believe it's time Molly. So many people would love to have special something that you created. You'd be doing a good deed:) I'm here if you need any support, etc.

  17. I was just admiring the acorn necklace on the left! Sounds wonderful!! Keep us updated :)

  18. No negative response means YES! (Did I just break a rule of grammer?)

  19. First of all - the title and photo kicks some butt. Now, knit up some socks to take care of those cold feet and continue about making things to "share" with people - because even if you are selling them you are sharing with them on a very personal level and your readers would love to share in your creations with you.

As someone said - the economy is a shame but the holidays are around the corner and as long as it is enjoyable work then there isn't too much to lose right?

  20. go for it, molly! you will see. they will sell. but remember to keep it fun and light for yourself. i need to remember that too!

  21. Go for it! Not only might you make a few dollars but it will be an inspiration to the rest of us!

  22. molly, I think you have such a large blog following that they'll sell. There doesn't seem to be a downside. And I'm going to make those pancakes. xoxo

  23. Another "yes" vote from another proud owner of your acorn necklaces!!
You are so talented molly, share your gift!

  24. Of course you should! I will be one big customer. xo to you

  25. love pumpkin pancakes. i could eat them every week through the fall...

    And YES!!!!!!

  29. I would love for you to offer up some lovely homemade items. I am particularly loving your acorn necklaces. I have thought of trying my hand at one, but then again, if you make them and decide to sell them, that would be easier yet.

I am, however, going to try my hand at the dish rack cloth for some folks.

  30. nothing to lose my friend.

    you are talented + creative.
