W.I.P.

Wednesday in progress.

Week in progress.

Work in progress.

Wreath in progress.

W.I.P.

It was impossible to get a decent picture of this wreath, so please believe me when I tell you it is much better in person. I've been working on this wreath for several months now, adding a scrap of fabric or yarn here and there as I complete projects, or clean up the floor under my sewing machine. I got the idea from a swag made of fabric scraps I saw on a design blog, but I'm not really a swag kind of gal, so out came the embroidery hoop and the wreath has slowly progressed since. To make your own, simply tie your scraps onto a hoop and bunch them together. It's that simple.

W.I.P.

The wreath is a nice reminder of all the projects I've worked on over the past few months. If I'm feeling lazy, I have only to look at the wreath to remind me of my productivity.

Speaking of lazy, sorry I disappeared for a few days. You might have been worried I was sitting at the park drinking Big Gulps and wearing a hat and sunglasses, but I've actually been sitting in front of the fireplace drinking hot cocoa and wearing pajamas. It's been heavenly. I think I needed a few days away from the screen to create more scraps of fabric and yarn to add to my wreath, start reading a few books (Eclipse and James and the Giant Peach), and paint the new cabinets my dear husband built in the pantry. Also there was the small pressing matter of laundry. Clean clothes are overrated if you ask me, but my family insists on them.

I'm off to wash another load and make myself a cup of hot cocoa, and if all goes well this evening, I'll have a few more fabric scraps to add to my W.I.P.

  9. I don't get the whole laundry thing either. ;)
Love the wreath idea! I always save my scaps, but I never quite know what to do with them.

  10. It's gorgeous! But, ack, I just cleaned out my sewing room and very begrudgingly threw out my scrap basket of odds and ends!

I've tried to convince my family to follow my practice of sleeping in what I've worn that day, thus saving the trouble of trying to find a new outfit in the morning + it gets you all set to jump out of bed and face the day. Unfortunately they haven't caught on to this laundry-saving and convenient practice yet.

  12. What a great idea! I'd love to hang one of these in my craft room as a reminder of how productive I really have been. And I just happen to have the inside of an embroidery hoop laying around waiting for a use...

  14. Beautiful! Maes me want to go tear up some scraps from the box of old clothes I have ready to go to Goodwill - I don't create scraps. Your banner is so wonderful as well.

  15. Awesome idea! It's very pretty. I'd like to be able to look at something to remind me how productive I have been on days when I'm not feeling so.

  16. that looks so great! I remember my mom making something similar years ago (on a coat hanger hoop?), but I love that yours is more scrappy since you're using actual scraps!

  17. I like Madeline's idea... not having many fabric scraps myself, this project makes me want to "create" scraps so I can have one too.

The scraps I create in my own projects are paper ones... I'm thinking those wont work for this... but maybe I'll save them now for a "patchwork-Mod Podge something."

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  19. Coccoa/couch time is way under-rated in the "gotta show off my new project" blog-o-sphere. All of us need that kind of down time. Glad you grabbed some and relished it. Fun, fun wreath!

Glad you are not hiding behind the Dr. Pepper. I was starting to wonder. No, there you are, just taking good care, creating beauty, living well. Thank goodness.

  23. I just stumbled across your blog and love it! I've spent a while reading through your old posts to "catch up" and I have to ask about your 8 month socks! I love that yarn! Do you happen to remember what it's called so that I might be able to find it? Also, I'm totally going to make a wreath like that too!

  29. Clean laundry is overrated and so is dust free furniture and cooked meals, but I guess there is something to be said for a clean bathroom....

  30. Love the wreath... what a great way to use fabric from my currently untouched stash. Besides... it's such a fun and whimsical decoration!!

Eclipse?? Are you reading the Twilight saga? I had such a fun time reading the 4 books. And now the movie will appear this coming Friday.

I also love, love, love James and the Giant Peach and all the other Roald Dahl books. All so yummy!!

  31. I actually made something similar years ago, although ours is all red&white gingham, not as colourful as yours. I am trying to resist getting anything Christmasy out yet, thereby delaying the daily "is it Christmas yet" questions a little longer!
