Mushrooms Are Cute, But Six Is Hot

six is smoking hot

For Aidan, my little fire, who will be six before we know it. Where does the time go? Seems like yesterday I was wearing a baseball jersey with the number 82 on it, yet that was 26 years ago, in 1982, when I was six. Wow.

If you can't tell, I'm a little addicted to Wonder Under right now. Better not sit still too long at my house or I might just applique you.

I took a little break from my applique frenzy to make myself a new tote (because you can never have enough, right?).

apple tote

I love this apple fabric. My neighbor actually found it for me at a rummage sale over the summer. She said, "I found some fabric you would like. It's kind of ugly." Haha. She knows me well.

apple tote

I had just enough vintage orange polka dot fabric to line the bag.

molly made tags

I even put a mollymade tag on the pocket. My mother-in-law made these tags on her sewing machine. I'm thinking about making some new tags with a custom made rubber stamp, fabric ink and cotton twill ribbon. Avery would like me to put a tag on all the things I make. I think she's proud of me. The feeling is mutual.

What are you making today?

And yes, six comes in the blink of an eye, and then so does every other year of a growing child. Sigh.

  5. Love it, Love it!!
That 6 is great and your mushroom is extra cute!
If I ever find my crafting energy again I will have to try wonder under, I tried applique a bit last spring and it never worked well for me. Things came out pulled and wonky, not nice and smooth like yours.
Maybe one day I will pester you for an explaination!

So to answer your question, I'm making nothing today, except babies of course.

  15. Oh! I LOVE those apples! And dang, that shirt is hot.

What am I making today? Well, considering that I have 34.97 lbs of apples sitting on my kitchen counter, I'm going to go out on a limb and say APPLESAUCE.

I NEED to be making my next craftswap project. But first, I need to figure out WHAT that project will be.

  21. I like the 'ugly' fabric too! Looks great as a bag and the polka dots are a great combo.

I am making banana bread, cookies, and pumpkin bread. Gearing up to go on vacation tommorrow in North Carolina. My table is loaded with books, board games, and scary movies. I think I can fit it all of it in the van but I am not so sure there will be room left for the kids. Ha!

Six is good, my friend. I just love my sons sense of humor and six year old wit right now. I think your gonna like it. :)

  28. six is definitely hot! I love your addiction to applique. My sister and I have always made pillows for our children, family, friends, where the front side is some kind of applique scene. I think we learned it from my grandmother who would make these amazing applique quilt squares. I should photograph some for you!

So keep it coming. I love seeing all your ideas!
