The Grandparents are coming! The Grandparents are coming!

My grandparents are coming to visit, and I know I should clean up my house. Not the handprints, of course, but the general mess that surrounds me. No matter how hard I try, I just can't do it. So, while I should have been cleaning, but I really felt like napping, and I couldn't do either, I plopped down on the couch and wrote this silly poem. Due to the general mess surrounding me, I didn't even have to get up for pen and paper. How convenient.

General Warning to All Who Enter My House

My house is clean,
but not very tidy.
The bathrooms are disinfected,
the towels bleached whitey.

There are piles of dishes,
but I did scrub the sink.
I took out the garbage
when it started to stink.

I'll be quite honest,
I'd rather play
with my children,
than clean up after them all day.

So come on in and find
an empty chair in which to sit.
I'll pour you a homebrew,
then you won't see half of it.

  1. My house is not clean;
    It's not even tidy.
    Footprints where Noah's been
End where I last changed his dity.
    We've watered in the garden,
    We've picked some flowers.
    He's sleeping now,
    Maybe for two hours.
